12-29-2008 // FINALLY, AN UPDATE! Hey, it's been awhile since I updated! This is just to let you all know that the project isn't dead. It's currently on hold as I complete other, smaller projects. But A-SR will be back and with better graphics and animation! So in the meanwhile, I removed parts of this website as they no longer represent the quality that the final movie will have. If you would like to know when the project is back on, feel free to subscribe on the right, and I'll send you an email when it happens. In the meanwhile, you can check out my other projects here:
6-13-2008 // SIDE PROJECT
I figured working on a full 1.5 hour film by myself was a bit super ambitious. And with the way my schedule is right now, it would take forever before it's completed. But with a short film, I can actually see the completion in sight, and you guys will get to see something soon. Also, if the short film gets a good response, it may actually help me finish A-SR sooner. Too complicated to explain how so I won't bother. =P 4-19-2008 // MOVIE UPDATE Hello everyone! It's been awhile since an update. And this after it seemed like the development was picking up some momentum. I've just been super busy with work and everything. If I had enough time and money, I could wrap up and release this movie in a month or two. This isn't an update to tell you everything is on hiatus. Rather, I'm working on a side project related to A-SR. If this side project does well, it will help accelerate the development of A-SR. Finished up scenes 16-20. How's that for an update? It will only be a matter of time before 21-30 are done, and I'll be saying we're at 75%. New video to be posted soon. 1-14-2008
Finally, an update for the new year! I'm almost done with scene 16. Did all of the car animation already. While I consider this the third biggest scene in the movie, it's probably the hardest one to make. This scene alone as well over 100 camera cuts. I had to push the release date back yet again. It's not so bad though. Some movies are delayed for years in only pre-production! At this point, most of the sets, characters, and cars have been made already. So the updates should be more frequent. 12-20-2007
Finished scene 15. Busy month for me. But then again, what month isn't? A lot of elements introduced in this scene will be used again throughout the movie. 12-1-2007

Made small updates to the teams section and large updates to the cars section. I figured to finally put some cars there since the page had been so plain for so long. Still working on the same scene which has lots parts to work on. On top of that, I've been having a lot of things to do the last few weeks. 11-12-2007
Added Mission to the places section. It was very labor intensive modeling each and every store and part of the street. However, I wanted it to be very detailed. NEW TARGET RELEASE DATE: January 2008. I figure I'm going to have "hella" time in Dec. and Jan. Plus, I'm not even at 50% yet so I have to push the release back another month. 10-23-2007
Scenes 13 & 14 done! These scenes involved some body poses. I also updated the rigs on the characters. I added two pics to the pics section. 10-20-2007
Added Coit Tower to the places section. Time hasn't been very nice to me this last week. Finishing half the footage by Nov. is doubtful. 10-12-2007
Scene 12 done. There's a pic of it in the pics section. This scene involved some walking animation so it took longer than I expected. 10-10-2007 Scene 11 done. I added a screen to the pics section. In fact, I updated the whole pic section so it navigates better. Hey, this website is getting more "decent-er" each day!
The date is 10/10. How weird would it have been if I just finished scene 10, not 11? 10-5-2007 Scenes 9 and 10 complete! Officially, 25% of all the footage is done. About half of the models and sets for the movie have been made already so hopefully, the last 75% goes much faster. =) 9-30-2007

Added Mission Billiards to the list of places. Like everything else in the movie, it's based on a real location. It's not a 100% copy because I'm working from memory and my memory of the hall is sketchy. 9-23-2007 New website layout! No more GIGANTIC header graphic. Scene 7 done. Wow, that was a long update. A *very* short sample can be watched above or in the video section. I also added two more pics in the pics section. The first thing you'll notice in the vid (hopefully) is the sound effects are MUCH better. No more "videogame" sounds. I know I'm lagging. My schedule has been busier lately. I have over 3 months left so there's still a good chance of getting it all done before the end of the year. 9-3-2007

8-22-2007 I finally added some stuff to the teams section. Still working on scene #7. I know it's been a while since the last update. I try to squeeze as much time as I can with work and stuff. But I definitely can complete this movie before the end of the year! 8-8-2007 First update of August. I finished scenes 5 and 6. Check out two pics I added to the pics section. I added Better Groceries to the list of places. Hmmm... I wonder if that's where the next scene is going to take place? I squeezed as much time as I could last week (which wasn't a lot). Completing scenes is still a bit of a slow progress as many of the places still have to be built. On a side-note, I saw The Simpsons Movie (which was awesome). The film uses a lot of cel-shaded animation which is the same technique that is being used in my movie. 7-22-2007

I added City College to the places page. Special thanks to the Mayang texture website for their gorgeous free textures. Once I finish making two characters, I'll be able to work on that scene. 7-11-2007 I just finished up another scene but won't post a pic. I know I'm not moving along as fast as I'd like, but I'm going to find a way to balance my time better and keep my energy up. Look for some new characters to be added in a few days. 7-5-2007

More characters added. Check them out here. It took me two days to create Jack, then two days to create Rina, but only one day to create Mike. Maybe that means I'm getting better. =P Now I can *almost* start working on scenes 2-3. Note that making scenes (non-racing) is a much faster process than making characters. I finally added some characters to the characters page. Just a few for now. And yes, the movie will also have some girl characters too. =) With my current abilities, I figured out it takes me 2 days to make one character. This includes the head, the clothing, all the facial expressions, and also, setting up the body for animating. 6-17-2007
SCENE #1 COMPLETE! You can check out a sneak preview in the new video section. I wish I could put up the whole scene, but I have to save it for the full movie. I know that seems like a massive amount of time to spend on one scene (in a movie that has 40 scenes). However, this is one of the biggest scenes in the movie, and it's not like I was working on it every day. Special thanks to Design Modelisation Image for the car extras (although I model all the main cars myself from scratch). Also thanks to cognito perceptu for the ambient traffic sound. I also made an update to the layout of the website. Next up, I plan on working on some of the characters and cars and add content to some of the pages here. 5-24-2007 Added the Golden Gate Bridge to the places section. I also started working on the first scene of the movie. As the saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
